Dear Medical Lake Families,
We are excited to have our students return to in-person instruction on a daily basis. Students and staff being required to wear masks wasn’t what we had hoped for, but we are optimistic that this will be a temporary requirement as the Covid-19 Delta Variant gets under control.
Last year our staff, students and families demonstrated that schools are safe and the spread of Covid can be minimized with safety protocols and especially masking. We found it was extremely beneficial to have students at school every day for in-person instruction despite the mandate to wear masks and following the six foot distancing requirements. The good news is that students will be able to be three feet apart in classrooms and not required to wear masks outside.
If you are concerned about sending your child to school, we do offer an on-line program called Connect+ which is taught by our own Medical Lake School District staff. Last year it proved to be beneficial to families who wanted a different option than attending school for face-to-face instruction. If you have questions about this program please contact your schools or Lyra McGirk our Alternative Learning Principal at [email protected].
In the past, the Medical Lake School District staff, students and families have faced adversity and have overcome issues to do what is in the best interest of our students. I have no doubt that we will get through this.
We look forward to our first day of school on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. If you have questions or concerns please contact your building principal or the district office beginning Wednesday, August 18 when buildings reopen. We appreciate the support you provide in benefit of all the students in our district.
Thank you,
Mr. Tim Ames
Superintendent
